Fivium Selects Childnet as its Charity of the Year
Fivium is proud to announce that Childnet has been selected as our Charity of the Year. This decision stems from our commitment to promoting good mental health and our role in the digital landscape. In an age dominated by an ever-evolving online landscape, the pace of change has given rise to an abundance of issues faced by today's children that have never been seen before. Recognising the impact of these issues on mental well-being and the difficulty in addressing them, we have chosen to support Childnet in its mission to "make the internet a great and safe place for children and young people."
The work undertaken by Childnet aligns with our broader purpose, which includes creating opportunities for people. By actively participating in the education of the next generation, we aim to help empower young minds with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the internet safely and make the most of its transformational potential. In doing so, we believe we are not only contributing to the well-being of children but also fostering the growth of future generations to come.
Earlier this week, we were invited to Childnet's #SaferInternetDay2024. During this event, our co-founder, Matt Fletcher, had the opportunity to engage with some of the younger people who are exposed to online dangers and gain valuable insights. The youth-led event unveiled the profound impact that the internet is having on younger generations. Despite this, the opportunity to hear younger voices was extremely motivational and inspired confidence that change can be made for the better. What was most evident was that a bottom-up approach, ensuring younger voices were heard and acted upon was essential for positive change.
"It was inspiring to hear the voice of young people talking about what it’s like growing up with the internet today and what help they need to stay safe online and make the most of this brilliant resource."
Our commitment goes beyond endorsement, and we will soon be unveiling upcoming initiatives aimed at raising funds and awareness for Childnet's crucial cause. Our aim is that we can contribute to creating a safer and more positive online environment for children and young people, ensuring they can harness the full potential of the internet while staying protected and informed.
