The UK Energy Portal lets companies apply online for consents to operate in the North Sea, UK. The Oil & Gas Authority (OGA), an Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), has a responsibility to safeguard the North Sea. They use this application to gate-keep who operates there.
Companies submit applications on a wide range of activities relating to hydrocarbon exploration, production, development, decommissioning and the protection of the environment. Once an application is submitted, a company can then retrieve, view and track its progress online.
The benefit to the oil and gas industry is a faster turnaround of applications. This is down to less manual processing and more efficient workflow. As a centralised, cloud based application, paper consumption is also dramatically reduced.
Delivered successfully to cost and schedule, it now has over 4,475 active users in over 1,885 organisations including ExxonMobil, Shell and BP. Fivium has worked with the OGA, DECC and BEIS in this area since 2006 on a wide range of workflow IT projects.
